This year, I’ll try to publish a blog post once a month with all the latest things happening at VMSoft Lab.

Without further ado, let’s dive into what’s new at VMSoft.

Fuel Oil Calculator and IBAN Check are available on the App Store

Fuel Oil Calculator and IBAN Check are now available for iOS, with more apps planned for porting.

After 15 years on Google Play, I’m shifting more of my focus to the App Store. The iOS version of Fuel Oil Calculator got some nice UI improvements, such as bottom navigation with three sections: ‘Mixture Ratio’, ‘Vehicle’, and ‘More’. This is also coming to Android sometime this year.

IBAN Check / IBAN Validation was also ported to iOS, with some nice UI and functionality improvements, plus a brand-new icon and color scheme.

All Android apps now support Android 16

This was a tough one and took some time to complete, mainly because of the adaptive layout requirement imposed by Google.

These are now fully compatible with Android 16.

VMFit: Run, Walk, Bike & More got 100+ downloads and cool new features

The privacy-respecting and ad-free activity tracking app VMFit, despite still being in early access on Google Play, got its first 100+ downloads and a lot of positive feedback.

Version 1.0.6 introduced the ‘Get Link’ feature, which allows you to generate a public anonymous page for your activity on the VMFit server, as well as add it to the anonymous activity index of all publicly shared activities tracked with the app.

Version 1.0.7 introduced weather information for outdoor activities: weather conditions, temperature, wind, and humidity.

Deprecation of Alien Swarm, Happy Fruits and Bulls & Cows

Bulls and Cows is a logical number-guessing game, also known as 1A2B.

Happy Fruits / Jewels

Happy Fruits is a simple match-3 puzzle game, similar to Jewels/Bejeweled-style games.

As someone once said, “All good things must come to an end.”

Due to the high development effort, low returns, and Google’s adaptive layout requirement, Alien Swarm, Bulls & Cows, and Happy Fruits are now deprecated and will no longer be maintained.

Perhaps Alien Swarm will eventually get a total rewrite and become available for both iOS and Android.

Looking ahead

That wraps up the March 2026 update rollup. The next few months will be focused on more iOS launches, Android improvements, and continued work on VMFit, so there will be plenty more to share soon.

GSM Signal Monitor notifies you when you have no GSM signal or mobile data.

Ever wanted to call someone, but your phone has no GSM coverage?

Or you are living / working in a low signal area?

‘GSM Signal Monitor’ monitors the phone (or tablet with SIM card) signal strength and alerts you when you are out of service or in a low signal zone.

No signal / low signal alerts include: voice notifications, vibration, notification on the device screen and playing a ringtone. You can personalize how you get notified in the app settings.

‘GSM Signal Monitor’ can also notify you when the signal is restored, your mobile data is lost you are in a roaming area.

The app also provides information about device SIM cards such as phone number, voice mail number, SIM Card Serial number (ICCID), Subscriber Id (IMSI), mobile operator info and network type. This SIM card info can be easily shared by tapping on the share button or copied in the device clipboard.

‘GSM Signal Monitor’ logs every signal related event in its notifications log. The notification log keeps information when the GSM signal is lost, restored or low. It also logs information when the mobile data is lost or roaming is active. You can configure what’s logged in settings. The log can be exported in CSV, PDF and HTML formats.

Each logged event contains location and additional details about device and network states such as: network operator, network type, data connection state, roaming state, ram usage, battery temperature, battery state (charging/not charging) and battery level at the time of the event.

You can monitor your signal strength as it changes dynamically from the app main screen or in the notification area.

Bulls & Cows version 3.1.5 released

We are happy to announce that a new version of Guess a Number – Bulls & Cows is now available on Google Play

This release focus on stability, performance improvements and Android 13 support.

Bulls & Cows is a logical game for kids and adults, also known as Mastermind, 4digits or 1A2B. Your goal is to find the opponent’s secret number with a minimum number of suggestions.

On each guess the game announces the number of “cows” and “bulls” in your suggestion. If the matching digits are on their right positions, they are “bulls”, if they are on different positions, they are “cows”.

You can play Bulls and cows in two game modes: Single player or Against Android.

In Single player mode you try to guess a secret number. To win you must reveal your opponent number.

When playing Against Android you start by choosing your difficulty (easy, medium or hard) and entering your secret number. On the next turn your opponent generates his secret number and announces the number of matching “bulls” and “cows”. Winner in this competitive game mode is the first person to reveal their opponent secret number.

You can make the game more challenging by choosing ‘hard’ difficulty and using five-digit or six-digit secret numbers. If you are stuck finding the secret number use a hint. To help you compete better Bulls & Cows features a draft (as we call it) where you can mark digits that you think are included or not in your opponent secret number.

If you fill like customizing there are many aspects where you can make it your own personal experience. You can for example change the theme,
or decide to play without zeroes. Check out settings…

Example:

Secret number: 8561
Opponent’s try: 3518
Answer: 1 bull and 2 cows. (The bull is “5”, the cows are “8” and “1”.)

IBAN Check ✔️ helps you with the tedious task of validating International Bank Account Numbers (IBAN’s for short) and BIC (SWIFT) code when making or receiving payments.

Brick Game version 4.0.4 released

This release focus on stability, performance improvements and Android 13 support.

‘Bricks Game’ is an interesting classic puzzle game with falling bricks where different types of shapes continuously fall from above. You should place bricks in order to have full lines with blocks. The goal of Falling Bricks game is to score as many points as possible by clearing horizontal lines of blocks. Lines are cleared when they are fully filled with blocks and have no empty spaces. Each removed line gives you 100 points. When playing the game, you rotate the falling bricks or move them, left and right.

Check upcoming brick in the top right corner of the screen and plan for it. Complete lines to gain points and raise the level. When you pass a level the blocks start to fall faster and the game becomes a real challenge. If the bricks land above the top of the playing field, the game is over.

Push Ups Counter version 2.0 released

This release features:

Push Ups Counter is an app that helps you count your push ups and records them in a training log where you can later review your progress day by day.

To start your workout press the ‘Start’ button. Push ups are recorded by the number of times your nose (or chin) touches the screen or if your device has ‘proximity sensor’ the number of times your head comes close to the screen. When you complete your workout, pressing the ‘Stop’ button will store the workout data in the training log.

Push Ups Counter features:

Can count push ups with the device proximity sensor or touching anywhere on the screen.
Workout timer
Keeps the device screen on during a workout.
Training log grouped by months.
It prevents double counting if for example you lean toward the device proximity sensor and accidentally touch the screen.

IBAN validation just got easy!

Introducing IBAN Check 2.0

The new version of our IBAN validation app for Android is here. This update introduces a modern Material design look and feel, fixes some UI / translation issues and brings support for Android Pie.

You can head over to Google Play store and get it right now,

or read about all the improvements and new features this update introduces in details below.

Material Design

One of the improvements is the adoption of Material design, making the app more visually appealing and usable.

The IBAN validation field has been redesigned with usability in mind, showing you the number of characters left. The clear button is now part of the input field.

There is also an inline error validation and no more popping up dialogs 🙂

We have also made some improvements on how well the app handles your device keyboard. You can now validate your IBAN with the click of the DONE button. Also all the characters you are typing are now upper case for better readability.

Horizontal Layout

Another vital part of this update is the better utilization of horizontal device orientations and better tablet support.

You can now see the list of countries that supports IBAN’s sorted by their ISO codes. Tapping on a country from the list will prefill initial data about the country.

Copy and Share

You can now share the result of the IBAN validation or copy it to the clipboard for later use.

Other improvements and bug fixes

This release of IBAN check also features support for Android Pie (latest Android version) and fixes some incomplete Russian and Bulgarian translations.

We are constantly working on improving our apps and smashing nasty bugs along the way.

Bulls And Cows v2.1 out now!

Our numbers guessing game got an update. Bulls & Cows version 2.1 is here with some enhancements and improvements such as:

When you mark a digit as excluded in the draft, the corresponding digit will be disabled on the keyboard.
When the hint button is used, the hinted digits will stay on their corresponding cells after each guess, unless you delete them using the “X” button.
Support for large aspect ratios (LG G6, Samsung Galaxy S8)
For devices with Android 7.0 and up, we support multi window mode.
End game music is now disabled by default.
Button vibration is now disabled by default.

Happy Fruits is a simple match-3 puzzle game similar to Jewels / Bejeweled type of games.

Your goal is to swap adjacent fruits to create combinations of 3 or more fruits of the same color and type, horizontally or vertically.

When you match 4 or more fruits, horizontally or vertically the whole game field row or column is removed.

After removing fruits new fruits drop down on the game field. Quite often the falling fruits create new valid combinations causing a chain reaction (or cascade).

Alien Swarm version 1.3 is here. This release focus is on improving performance, fixing visual glitches and bugs. The idea behind it is to provide stable base for the upcoming major update of the game.

Version 1.3 Change log:

The game feels and look the same on all devices.
Fixed bug affecting 9.7″ tablets.
Fixed crash happening when the aliens performs a group attack.
‘New life’ and ‘New high score’ notifications are more discrete.
Game sound is more consistent.
‘New life’ indicator uses a space ship as an icon instead of a heart.
The game now pauses when the notification drawer is pulled down.
The game now pauses when a call is received.
Updated ‘Google Play Services’ to version 9.2.1

A couple of days after releasing on Google Play, the update will be available on other app stores where VMSoft is present.

It will be match 3 like game with 4 game modes: ‘Timed‘, ‘Endless‘, ‘Quick‘ and ‘Classic‘ also featuring various achievements, leaderboards and beautiful game play.

Happy new year from VMSoft team!

You may not know, but we started our company 3 yeas ago (back in 2013) as a hobby. Me and my girlfriend were enthusiastic about Android. I was developing the apps and she was testing them. Our first app was ‘Darts Calculator‘. It was ugly looking app (that changed recently) but with a lot of functionality.

So in 2016 we will bring you Tic Tac Toe 4.0 with Android TV support, Happy Blocks (the game we are working on) will be released on Google Play, major update awaits Alien Swarm, also our frozen project Pipe Dream will hit Google Play. Numbers Puzzle will finally get it’s update.

We are also planning to port some of our apps to Windows Phone and Windows 10 and releasing Fuel/Oil calculator as web app. Some home grown tools which help us in our development process such as Android Image Re-sizer will be available for other developers for free. Also it’s time for our web site to get a new look.

In 2016 we will try to be more engaged with our users, fixing bugs and answering questions faster. Our Google+ and Facebook communities will be more frequently updated.

Meet ‘Numbers Puzzle’

Meet our new app - ‘Numbers Puzzle’.

Numbers Puzzle or also called Sliding Numbers, Gem Puzzle, Boss Puzzle, Game of Fifteen, Mystic Square is a classical game aimed at ordering randomly shuffled numbers in ascending order.

The game goal is to order the numbers in ascending order starting from 1 in the upper left corner. At the end of the game the empty cell should be placed on the lower right corner.

Numbers can be moved up, down, left or right replacing the empty square. They can also be moved in groups (row or column).

Features:

Moving numbers in groups (row or column)
Game board themes (‘green’, ‘gray’, ‘white and blue’)
Different game board sizes (4×4, 6×6, 8×8, 10×10)
Vibration when moving a number
